Scott Paterson grew up and was educated in the Washington, D.C. area in Montgomery County, Maryland.
He is a very goal oriented individual who earned the rank of Eagle Scout at a very early age. Working his way through school, he attended Montgomery College, Rockville, Maryland and received his A.A. in Business Administration. He graduated in 1988 from the University of Maryland, College Park with a B.A. in Management and Consumer Studies.
After graduating college, he moved from Montgomery County to Calvert County in Southern Maryland in 1989. Scott received his Maryland Real Estate License in 1989. He took formal sales training and customer service training.
A year later he associated himself with large and small by being pursued and recruited for his skills as a top producing listing agent.
Scott opened Paterson’s Preferred Properties, Inc. as Principle Broker/Owner in April 1998. Paterson’s Preferred Properties is known to this day for selling the largest commercial and residential properties in the area. His clients recognized the value of doing business with a “Seller’s” Agency. Scott has been blessed and honored to represent Bishops, Judges, Attorneys and Celebrities. His reputation is outstanding in a highly competitive Washington DC area real estate market.
Education has always been very important to Scott. He continued his education as a Realtor becoming a “Graduate of the Realtor Institute” (GRI). He soon completed his “Certified Residential Specialist Designation” (CRS). In 2006, he received his “Accredited Seller Representative Designation (ASR). In 2007-2008, Scott helped distressed homeowners renegotiate loans with major mortgage lenders as an “Independent Loss Mitigation Consultant” (ILMC). In 2009, he took further advanced training in “Short Sales” in his continuing effort to help struggling homeowners. Short Sales have aided families who owed more on their property than it was worth. Scott is now proudly building Alpha Realty & Auction from the ground up with the highest level of customer/ client service and the best internet marketing obtainable. His marketing reach is truly world wide.
Scott is a former President of Calvert Animal Welfare League (CAWL). He managed the construction of the facility and was seated during the grand opening. This was Calvert County’s first “No Kill” animal shelter. It was proudly opened in 2005 and is still in operation today thanks to the great volunteers.
Scott has accomplished his FAA Private Pilot Certificate March 2009 at Tailwheels, Etc. in Winter Haven, Florida. Scott has logged in many hours flying over the area’s mountains and landing in Johnson County, Rural Retreat and Virginia Highlands Regional Airports.
He is a proud and dedicated Dad to his eleven year old daughter, Lauren. Scott relocated from Southern Maryland to Damascus, Virginia to be closer to his daughter. In 2009 he invested in a cottage in the Town of Damascus. He opened the “Appalachian Trail Town Inn” which he used privately every other weekend to facilitate visits with his daughter who resides in nearby Mountain City, Tennessee. The rest of the time the cottage was used for lodging for those hiking the Appalachian Trail and biking the Virginia Creeper Trail. In 2011, Scott closed the successful “Appalachian Trail Town Inn” and made it his new home. Scott says, “He traded the Chesapeake Bay for the Appalachian Mountains and loves it” Needless to say his daughter was thrilled and said, “Now my Dads only 14 miles instead of 400 miles away!”.
Scott’s “Timeline” since moving to the Town of Damascus, Virginia:
October 2011 he was awarded his Real Estate Principal Broker License for the Commonwealth of Virginia.
